2019 Summer Reading Program

The Sikh Religious Society Chicago Gurdwara Library invites all of you youngsters and the young at heart to participate in the 2019 Summer Reading Program.

Program Dates: June 2nd – September 1st

Summer Reading Program Guidelines:

  • Books or topics read must be associated with Sikh Heritage.
  • Book reviews can be emailed to library@srschicago.org or submitted in person to Library.
  • The books can be from the SRS library or from another location or source.
  • The reviews submitted may be shared on the SRS website, Library Facebook page and/or comments section of the library website.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji Prakash Purab and Khalsa Sajna Diwas

Gurdwara Sahib Palatine has planned the following programs to celebrate the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Prakash Purab and Khalsa Sajna Diwas. Please do join the congregation with family and friends.

Shaheedi Samagam December 2017

Special programs are being planned for commemoration of martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh Ji four Sahibzaade, Mata Gujri Ji, other Singh’s after Guru Sahib left Anandpur Sahib and in battle of Chamkaur. Please join us with family and friends to remember these great moments of our history and those who preferred laying down their lives instead of compromising the founding principles of Sikhi.
Evening Diwan on Thursday, December 21 and Tuesday, December 26 will be dedicated to this occasion.

Special programs are scheduled to commemorate Shaheedi of Guru Teg Bahadar Ji, Bhai Mati Daas Ji, Bhai Sati Daas Ji and Bhai Dayaala Ji. Bhai Ajit Singh Indianawale Jatha will be performing Kirtan on Sunday November 26, 2017.

Please join congregation with family, friends and participate in these programs to remember the martyrdom of Guru Sahib and his beloved Sikhs to protect someone else faith. Sangat is also encouraged to participate, listen in Akhand Paath and connect with Gurbani.

Mool Nanakshahi Calendar Implementation Conference

Please join us for a two day conference at Palatine Gurdwara on the implementation of Mool Nanakshahi Calendar, the official Sikh calendar. The focus will be to preserve the unique Sikh heritage and prepare the Panth for the next millennial. There will be expert speakers on the topic to help explain the history and importance of the Mool Nanakshahi Calendar.
S. Pal Singh Purewal, Dr. Sukhpreet S. Udhoke, Prof. Niranjan S. Dhesi, S. Sarabjit Singh (Sacramento), S. Surinder Singh (Talking Punjab), Bibi Jasbir Kaur (Ohio) will be speaking during this conference.
